About Us

Our company was started in 1949 by Hartie Jones, Jr. and was operated as a welding and repair shop.  It was called Jones Welding Service and was located next to Garnett Blanks Store where Loftis Appliance is now located.  In addition to the welding and metal fabrication service, chainsaws and lawn mowers were sold as well.

A new building was constructed in 1961 and the business was moved to it's present location just West of the Clarksville, VA town limits.  Along about this time Stihl chainsaws were added to the inventory.

Soon after, Allis-Chalmers farm equipment was added and was carried through the early '70's in addition to chain saws, lawn mowers and other power equipment.  Welding and metal fabrication was still a major part of the business.  About 1975, Bill and Doug Jones became operators of the business.  Echo outdoor power equipment was added to the inventory in the early '70s.

In 1985, Glidden Paint was added to the inventory along with the necessary brushes, rollers and other painting tools.

In 1987, Jones Welding became affiliated with ACE Hardware the the name changed to Clarksville ACE Hardware.
